Albany International Airport Terminal Expansion
Central Terminal
As the nation’s oldest municipal airport, Albany International is focused on expanding terminal capacity and enhancing the overall traveler experience. The brand-new public departure hall features four new escalators and a direct connection to the TSA checkpoint on the second floor where expanded queuing brings efficiency to the security process.
Amenities include increased space for concessions, updated public restrooms, a children’s play zone (Adirondack Imaginarium), a multi-sensory quiet room, and renovated business centers.
In collaboration with CHA as the Architect of Record, our building systems team provided critical design elements for the terminal expansion, including electrical design, fire alarm systems, plumbing, and fire protection. To accommodate the increased power demands of the main terminal, new electrical service powers Concourse A, while a 30-kilowatt solar array installed on the roof of the Piedmont Hangar contributes to the airport’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
